Generating SSS PRN This 2021

Paying SSS contributions or premiums will be done thru generation of PRN. For members, be aware that there is an increase in premium contributions beginning this January 2021.

SSS has a New Table of Contributions this 2021. Visit the SSS website to see what is the new premium under what bracket.

For Voluntary, Self-Employed, OFW, Non-Working Spouse there is no EC or Employee Compensation. I thought I will be paying P2,695 since that is the amount indicated on the new contribution table but when I successfully generated my PRN as a Voluntary member, there was no P2,695 amount in the option, only P2,665. The supposed EC under my bracket was P30. I figured I have no EC fee since I am not an employee.

Generating SSS PRN Successfully

I have just generated my first SSS PRN for 2021 and I did it via the Social Security System website. I tried generating the PRN for the month of January thru the mobile app but unfortunately an error was encountered during the process, so I switched to the website.

Login to MySSS website > Payment Reference Number > Generate PRN > Input Required Details

How To Generate SSS PRN via website

The required details are as follows:

  • Membership Type
  • Applicable Period (From and To)
  • Contribution
  • Total Amount

Then Submit Request.

Payment Reference Number Generation

I did this today January 4, 2020. Maybe in a few days, the SSS IT management will be able to fix or update the mobile app and everyone can easily generate PRN via the app.

Another way to generate PRN is to go to an SSS branch and use the kiosk therein. One may also generate SSS PRN thru TXT.

I am expecting that since I have already generated a PRN under the new contribution table, SSS will automatically give me a PRN for February 2021 and succeeding months thereafter, without me manually generating one. If this will not come to pass, I will update this blog post next month.

Update 02/02/21: I checked the mobile app today February 2 but the Generate PRN button does not work. Then, I logged onto the SSS website and check the ‘Generate PRN’ link and I can see that the system automatically created a PRN for February 2021 for me.

I paid the PRN right away using GCash. Payment was successful and my February premium contribution was instantly posted to my SSS account.

Paying SSS PRN Thru Online This 2021

Anyhow, so after I generated a PRN successfully via SSS website, I switched to the mobile app and saw that the new PRN I generated for period January 2021 was already reflected on the app.

At first I tried to use Paymaya to pay, which is how I usually pay the monthly contributions of 2020, but today there is an error. Instead of the P2,665 amount, the amount due reflected was the old P2,400. So I did not proceed with Paymaya.

I then  tried to use the Gcash Bills Payment Facility and was successful.

Login to GCash > Dashboard > Pay Bills > Government > SSS – PRN > Input details

The details required by GCash to pay SSS PRN are as follows:

Account Type – this is a dropdown menu select ‘PRN’

Payment Reference Number – this is the PRN generated

Amount – the payment due for the month/quarter

Payor Type – select whether Self Employed, Voluntary, OFW, Non-Working Spouse

Gcash does not process yet PRN for SSS Loans. This app only processes PRN for contributions as of this time. Maybe in the future, they will.

Also there is no processing fee when I used Gcash today to pay SSS PRN. Paymaya charges P10 for an SSS transaction, but then again Paymaya has their Balik Bayad promo wherein you get 1% of the paid amount as rebate. Here’s me hoping Gcash will continue with the no transaction fee for SSS contribution payments.

SSS 2021 PRN Payment Posted Instantly

The good thing is that my payment was instantly posted, as verified via the SSS mobile app and also the website. The bad news is that, the whole amount of P2,665 was reflected under “Monthly Contributions” and none for “WISP”.

PRN Payment for January 2021 Reflected on SSS Member’s Account

I think it should have been P2,600 reflected under “Monthly Contributions” and P65.00 under the “Workers’ Investment and Savings Program or WISP (SSS Provident Fund)”. I am hopeful that within this month, SSS will be able to sort out this issue. Otherwise, I will have to email SSS Cebu again to ask for help.

By the way, kudos to SSS Cebu because I have sent them email previously on two separate occasions regarding unposted contributions paid thru Moneygment app and Paymaya app and they replied and assisted me.  They forwarded my concern to the appropriate team in the head office and eventually my unposted contributions were successfully posted.

I tried to contact the SSS Hotline and toll-free numbers those times but no one picks-up my call. It just rings and rings even after 30 minutes, lol.

If you are facing issues with unposted contribution or any SSS related, try to find the email of the regional branch where you are at and email them to ask for assistance.

Generation of PRN is crucial especially for SSS members who are Voluntary, Self-Employed, OFWs, and Non-Working Spouse.

For January contribution, the due date is April 2021. Hope this sharing helps!

Hello, when I try to generate the PRN, there are only two options – Voluntary and OFW, since I am self employed, is it okay to choose the voluntary option?

Hi Liw, I am not so sure about that. I think it’s best to contact SSS for your query, kasi ang alam ko pag registered ang member as self-employed sa may babayaran na EC portion (P10 to P30 depending on the MSC). If you are a Voluntary contributor, wala yung EC portion.
