Replacing G-Shock and Baby-G Watch Battery | Price via Authorized Service Center

At the height of the pandemic, three of our G-Shocks and a Baby-G watch need battery replacement. It turns out, it’s challenging to get the batteries replaced properly.

We went to Time Depot store in SM City Cebu expecting that they will be able to service our G Shock, since they are an official distributor and it’s where we bought some of our GShocks, but alas they can’t. Per the staff, they do not have the proper tools to replace the batteries on the G-Shock and Baby-G. They offer that they can still replace the battery, but the integrity of the water resistance / waterproof feature might be compromised. ‘May chance na mapasukan ng tubig’ if we proceed with the ‘regular’ way.

We asked ‘why’? They said that there is a special equipment to ensure proper opening, closing, and re-sealing of the G-Shock. Unfortunately, they don’t have that at the store.

‘Is there an authorized service center in Cebu that can change the battery on the GShock properly?’

‘No maam. Sa Manila lang.’

Ouch.

We asked if we can bring the watches to them and have them sent the same to their main office, then we will just pick-up the items on their store once they’re back. They said that it’s not possible but that we can ship it ourselves to G-Shocks’ headquarters in Manila; shipping fee to and fro will be at our expense. They will give us the address daw.

We did not like this suggestion for many reasons. Anyhow, so we put off the plans of changing the battery on the watches for a while.

Then just last June 2022 my husband needed to go home to Laguna, he brought with him the non-working watches. Since he doesn’t have time to go to Manila before flying back to Cebu, he requested his brother to bring the watches to the G-Shock store in SM Mall of Asia for servicing.

New battery on these watches!

The MOA official G-Shock store does not do battery replacement, drop and pick-up option is also no longer offered. The same suggestion was made – to mail the watches to their main office directly. Again, we don’t like the idea of back-and-forth shipping. Eventually what happened is that my brother and sister-in-law went to their main office in Ortigas, Pasig, sinadya pa talaga galing Cavite. They got there just in the nick of time, just before the cut-off time of 2 PM. Thank you Ya Tan and Cess for the help!

To cut the long story short, our GShock watches’ batteries were replaced properly and claimed the same day, for P500 each. Cleaning of the watch face, strap, bezel, back, etc. comes free. I don’t know if there is a 2-year warranty on the battery, but I’ll be contacting the company on this and will update this post.

Can you replace your GShock battery DIY? Based on my check on Youtube and the various tutorials/guides available there, yes you can replace the battery yourself. You just buy the replacement battery from Lazada or Shopee since there are shops on these sites claiming to sell authentic and legit battery for different models of GShock. Would we, do it? No. We prefer to pay for peace of mind that our G-Shocks will still function normally even if we use it while swimming.

I wish G-Shock and Baby-G would put up more authorized service centers all over the country for repair, battery replacement, and other services. Because as it stands now, we will hold-off on buying more GShocks, it’s just too much hassle to have the batteries replaced professionally and properly. I am sure there are more like us, customers and potential customers, who share the same sentiments.

Bring your G-Shock and Baby-G watches for repair, service, or replacement of battery in their main office located in Pasig City. This is also their legit authorized service center, they are open Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM, but cut-off for same day battery replacement service is at 2 PM. You can drop the watch in their main office, then get it back after 2 hours or leave it with them and come back for it another day.

Complete address and contact number of the G-Shock service center is at the 31st Floor, Unit 3101, One Corporate Building, Dona Julia Vargas Avenue, Ortigas, Pasig City. Email address is customercare@csc-time-.com. Landline (02) 7088-5888, Mobile 0917-1524-326.

p.s. how long did the battery last on my G-Shocks? The limited edition one, the orange watch, was bought mid-2016, it stopped working mid-2020, so the battery lasted for about 4 years. I think it would have lasted longer if I had not abuse the light and temperature function of that watch, lol. The classic black and gold Baby-G enjoyed close to 6 years of battery life. The other two watches in the picture which belongs to my husband, I have no idea how long the batteries lasted, sorry.
