Yep, this 2012 will be the silver season for CBS famous reality tv show ‘Survivor’ and where did the network take the contestant for its special 25th edition? The Philippines!
It’s a banner year for Philippine Tourism not only for successfully launching a tourism slogan that resonates with millions of Filipinos, we’ve also had major international tv networks produced special documentaries featuring the Philippines namely:
1. National Geographic’s Inside Malacanang
2 National Geographic’s Islands Insider
These milestones are special because these documentaries features the best side of the Philippines. Usually our country becomes headline in international media only if there is a natural disaster, crimes, corruptions and the likes creating a “bad”, “dangerous” reputation for the Philippines abroad. This in turn influences foreign tourists to skip our island nation in favor of other Asian countries in deciding where to take their next holiday like going to Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Cambodia etc instead of the Philippines.
There are 7,107 more reasons why we should have attracted hordes of visitors to our shore. We have so much to offer in terms of flora and fauna biodiversity, awesome white sand beaches, thrilling adventures, friendly locals. But the sad reality is that our country is off the radar of most tourists looking for an exotic place to visit this side of the world. Or if they are aware that the country exists it is for the ‘wrong’ reasons as mentioned above.
BUT this year 2012 maybe the real start of something different. The rallying cry among millions of Filipinos today is to change the way the world look at the Philippines.
And this US-based tv reality show CBS Survivor: Philippines can help – tremendously. For one its a vote of confidence for the country that a major American tv network decided to shoot here. It’s amazingly wonderful here. Period.
This is not the first international survivor series that was shoot in Caramoan. The following Survivor franchises also shoot some seasons in this tiny island in the Bicol Region: Survivor France, Survivor Serbia, Survivor Israel, Survivor Bulgaria, and Survivor Sweden. But of course the most famous of all Survivor series is the original one hosted by Jeff Probst, the US Survivor tv series, hence it’s getting so much attention even before it is shown on tv. =)
I have very high hopes that this silver edition of the world-famous Survivor Series of CBS will help boost our national tourism effort in promoting our country as a prime destinations for foreign tourists. We all know that tourism is one major undertaking that if tap right and successfully can do wonders for the country and our citizens.
SURVIVOR: The PHILIPPINES
Survivor is back on its 25th season and castaways were taken to the Caramoan Peninsula in the Philippines main island of Luzon. One of the early twists was the bringing back of 3 previous survivor castaways from early seasons who were forced to abandoned their dream of winning the prize money of one million dollars after facing serious medical emergencies. Now they are back and ready to take the crown and be declared the ultimate sole survivor.
2012 CBS Survivor Philippines
The tribal names are also very Filipino: Matsing (Monkey), Kalabaw (Carabao or Water Buffalo) and Tandang (Rooster). I wonder why they took names of animals for the 3 tribes? What are the reasons? And how did the castaways fare dealing with treacherous surroundings and nature’s fury and torrential rains that characterize that part of the archipelago? What will be twists and turns of Survivor 2012? How hard will the challenges be? Who are among the casts of this CBS Survivor: Philippines? Who will be the fan’s favorite? Who will be the most hated castaway? How will alliances be formed?
Will the 2012 Survivor Philippines castaways consider coming back here in the country after the series wrap up?
And of course the ONE question,
Who will be the ultimate sole survivor for Survivor Philippines?
p.s. are you going to watch this series when it starts? share your thoughts… =)
