DOT 2012 New Slogan and Logo: It’s more fun in the Philippines!

The much-anticipated launch of the new slogan and logo for Philippine tourism campaign created a stir online and elicits excitement and guessing games among Pinoys including politicians and celebrities as DOT guarded their ‘secret’ zealously.  Almost everybody was on tenterhooks waiting for the moment of reveal. Now, the wait is finally over for this 2012 the Department of Tourism (DOT) unveils the new campaign slogan  ” It’s more fun in the Philippines”.

Take a look at the new DOT logo and slogan to promote the Philippines to the world. This new branding will be the message of the country on tv infomercials abroad, local tourism campaigns and efforts aim to  encourage and entice more and more visitors to come to the country and experience the warmth and hospitality of the Filipino and yessss, to have fun and adventure in exploring our exotic beautiful islands.

What’s your take in the new DOT slogan?  Do you like it? The logo is patterned after “banig” a local sleeping mat, it is very Pinoy.

The new campaign will also have a twist to further drive home the message that  “Nangunguna ka sa saya, Pilipino. Walang tatalo sayo.” . #1 For Fun is the campaign to improve domestic tourism and encourage more local travels among Filipinos.

Reactions to the New Philippine Tourism Campaign

The success of this new branding for the country depends on a lot of things. In the next few days or months I guess we will be hearing different opinions and reactions regarding the recently released tourism campaign and slogan.  I wonder if this new 2012   DOT slogan and logo will be as controversial as it’s predecessor “Pilipinas Kay Ganda” or be more succesfull than the popular  “Wow Philippines” branding and campaign? I hope this Department of Tourism  “It’s more fun in the Philippines” campaign will hit its goal of bringing more visitors to the PH.

The online world is buzz right now with the launch of the DOT new tourism  tag line. In just a few minutes this topic and “It’s more fun in the Philippines” will be trending in Twitter I bet hehhehe. In fact early this morning the hashtag #1for Fun shows early sign of trending in twitter world hehe

Ikaw, share mo what is more fun in the Philippines! 🙂

How will this new “Fun”  branding and campaign of the Philippines fare in attracting the international travel market? Are we going to finally increase our market share as one of the top nations visited by foreign tourists in Asia? Are we going to attract more travelers, vacationers, holiday merrymakers and backpackers to come visit the Philippines? Can we improve our standing vis-a-vis our Asian neighbors especially the front-runner Thailand? Can the new slogan be as memorable as those of other countries like “Incredible India”, “Sparkling Korea”, ” Malaysia Truly Asia” and our very own “Wow Philippines!”? Will the international travel and tourism market warm up to the new Philippine campaign? How will the Filipino people react to this new campaign? And ultimately, what will be the impact of this new tourism efforts on the life of Juan de la Cruz?

These questions will be answered in time. For now, let’s do our share in promoting the Philippines. We have so many things  to be proud of – so much biodiversity in our land, so beautiful natural resources, so many opportunities to attract visitors with eco-tourism and sports tourism, so many avenues to have a truly fun and wonderful vacation for one and all! Most importantly, we are blessed with people who are kind and hospitable, “It’s the Filipino that will make the difference”, quote from Secretary Jimenez during the unveiling.  There is just so, so much that we can share to the world. Let’s unite and help get the Philippines to where it should be on the travel map and aim for sustainable tourism campaign. Let us support Philippine tourism!

It’s more fun in the Philippines!

Update:  Hours after the launched of the new DOT slogan, controversy surfaces that the new Philippine tourism slogan is not original and is similar to the 1951 ad campaign from Switzerland which is ” It’s more fun in Switzerland”.  I believe this is just a mere coincidence, especially that the term is a common expression (take out the country in the phrase).

Why you should go to the Philippines? The reason is simple – It is more fun in the Philippines.  Indeed, indeed!

personally i think WOW PHILIPPINES was a much better slogan. some people come to the philippines for rest and relaxation (i’m sure this for some is a sort of “fun”) and of course many come for business and other activities. the d.o.t. wants everyone to be behind this new slogan but i personally feel they were overpaid for this..

my work is connected with DOT. i go arround the country looking for places to develope and promote. I think that the new slogan gives more meaning to the goals of tourism since the previous WOW slogan was used for political gains. a couple of places i have been last week was Samal Island and Pantabangan Dam. New places to develope… look for it …have FUNNNNNNN because its more fun in the Philippines. I will try to send you pictures of the places we are developing….renegade
