Cebu’s Barbeque Central: Larsian!

Larsian is one of those places that almost all Cebuano’s have been to (but is not a good place for those with queasy stomach and no appetite for street foods) most frequented by those on the look-out for cheap but delicious meal.

My tagalog friends often remarks that you can see resto grills, barbeque stands in almost all corners of the metro and no wonder for cebuano’s love their sinugba and barbeques.

Larsian Sa Fuente is perhaps the most famous of all grilling and barbeque places in the city. It’s just a stone throw away from the Fuente Osmena rotanda and is beside Chong Hua Hospital. There is a big banner outside the compound that entices locals and tourists to come inside and take a bite. It houses an assortment of carenderia type restos selling various grilled meat and seafoods..Smoke and barbeque smell will assail your senses when you enter, at times can even sting your eyes. Payday weekends and holidays brings in large crowds so it may take awhile for you to find a seat.

Cebu’s hanging rice, puso

seafood is also available in Larsian

one of the many long tables inside Larsian compound enveloped in a smoky haze,

note the wide smile of a first-timer 🙂

EAT, FEAST, FOOD BINGE IN LARSIAN FUENTE!

Larsian staples includes pork barbeque, grilled stuffed squids, grilled fish, tinola, cebu chorizo, grilled chicken legs etc and of course Cebu’s famous hanging rice  ‘puso’, and yes they have a selection of sodas and beers too.  Some stores also offers Lechon and Siomai sa Tisa.

What you do once you get there is to select among the many stores with their long tables  (the tables belongs to  particular stores) where you want to sit and then your orders will be taken.  Chances are your stomach will probably growl anticipating the grilled feast, ours definitely did hehe

This food complex in Cebu has had a recent facelift, all grilling  are now done at the center area, the complex roof has been repaired, there is also lesser smoke getting into your eyes now but happily the same cheap meal.  This 2013 GMA News TV Ang Pinaka also list Larsian as among the “Pinaka – Yummy” place in Cebu besting other dining establishments in the city.

Larsian is best enjoyed with  group of friends, and it’s real cheap too 🙂

p.s. If you want to read more about “the No 1 Ang Pinaka Yummy Resto in Cebu’ by GMA News TV show, Visit this post — STK Ta Bai sa Paolitos Seafood House.  This restaurant is walking distance from Larsian and Fuente Circle.

Happy Eating! Enjoy the food choices here in Cebu!
