Cebu Lechon and Puso: Perfect Match

This is an entry to Penfires’ Philippines in Pictures series: Lechon Cebu and Puso!

Ahhh what can be better to feast on than one of the Philippines’  Most Popular foods – Lechon! And where better to taste this than here in Cebu! Come on over and dig in to this delicious goodness! My favorite celebrity chef, author and tv hosts Anthony Bourdain’s hailed Cebu Lechon as the ‘Best Pig Ever!’ and no wonder – it truly is!

Come here  and feast on this specially roasted pork! Cebu Food Tripping at it’s best!

Cebu Lechon Goodness!

And when in Cebu pair this lechon with the native hanging rice of the province, the puso. It’s a perfect match! The puso wrapping is made from coconut leaves woven together with a small hole left open wherein the rice grains are then poured into. Next, the local Cebuano weaver seals up the weaving and then put the uncooked puso on the pot with water. And after sometime, voila, your hanging rice is ready!

Puso – Cebu’s Hanging Rice, a local, native delicacy

Are you hungry yet? 🙂 Leaving you with another Cebu Lechon snapshot!

The Lechon Penfires recommends are those roasted and sold by:

1. CNT’s Best Tasting Lechon – in front of SM Jeepney Terminal. Cost per kilo of cnt lechon is around P440.00

2. Marina Lechon – inside the SM Foodcourt, per kilo of their Marina Cebu Lechon is P400.00

When you are heading out of Cebu, you can buy lechon pasalubongs per kilo and have them boxed-up. When you get to the airport, you will probably see lots of those lechon boxes hehehhe. You can also call the stores above for reservation.

Coming here for Sinulog 2012? Don’t miss our Cebu lechon!
