This is a digress from what I usually write here in Penfires but I’m sharing this anyhow because I just found out this video of rockers Basti Atardi of Wolfgang fame and Tirso Ripoll of Razorback real something. This is Call Me Maybe with a different twists. 😆
As Basti remarked the story in the song was inspired by what happened during his first date with his wife,so the lyrics have been changed. And no don’t worry this is not a mushy, mushy start of a love story, the opposite in fact. This is one video that is hilarious if you understand Tagalog that is. If you hate Call Me Maybe, still watch this video . You’ve got to watch and listen to this, if only for Basti’s powerful vocals.
What I also like about the rocker’s take on ‘Call Me Maybe’ is that aside from the more ‘rock’ tune, Basti made fun of himself and is comfortable about it. This is one good trait of Filipinos I think, we really have the ability to take things in stride and make embarrassing moments funny.
We also don’t think we are above everyone else that we can’t make fun of ourselves. Basti and Tirso maybe Filipino rock icons but heyyy, they definitely know how to have fun! And yes they cater to requests however shi**ty it maybe to their ears. They are rock idols not pop sensations but they ‘gave in’ and do this video for all the fans who requested it haha.

You know “Call Me Maybe” is real popular when Filipino rock bands and rock icons like Wolfgang frontman get tons of request for him to play this song. Anyhow, at the start Tirso can’t believe he and Basti are going to do a cover for this famous pop song lol. His surprised expression was hilarious hehe. More so when he heard the lyrics hehehe.

But glad they did, this is one heck of a cover for Call Me Maybe! If you read the comments under the video in Youtube, many claims this is the best version of the song. Watch below and judge for yourself. 
p.s. I am also sharing this because my boyfriend says I am always out of touch with what is happening on the entertainment scene lol.

For those who don’t get the song or understand the lyrics of this Call Me Maybe cover by Basti and Tirso, the girl in the story ate so much and drank so much that she vomited on the face of the guy on their first date. They were somewhere in QC ( Quezon City ), the guy was from Alabang. The story ended well though despite the ‘blowby’ or the ‘vomiting’ LOL =). You gotta love happy endings hehehe

I’m from Alabang, and we’re in QC. This line show’s Basti’s predicament because his trip home is far so he will stay stinky for at least an hour before he can clean up and change. That line actually makes everything more hilarious.

Well lets just say, if you are out of touch with the entertainment scene…I am on another planet. I literally don’t watch TV, unless one of my sports teams are playing or one of my favorite boxers are fighting. And I only listen to sports talk radio, or my ipod when I want music. lol

OK, seriously… what have you done to me, ever since I read this I can’t escape from this song. lol I go to the gym for 90 mins, it plays twice, go into stores it’s playing, friends cars, it’s on the radio. Last week I decided to flip through some radio stations and it was on two different stations at once. Then yesterday I was in the truck shop at my work, where they ALWAYS have a classic rock station on but on this day what do I hear upon entering? Yep, Call Me fricken Maybe haha. A bunch of heavy-duty mechanics listening to that song is a sight to behold. lol
