For those pursuing a freelance career online, this is my advise… Work and Make It So That Your Clients Recommend You.
Usually my day starts by turning on my laptop even before I grab a cup of coffee. And nope, it is not to check my facebook account lol. The three pages that are automatically loaded are Odesk, my yahoo email and feedjit to see penfires’ visitors heheh.
So anyway I woke up and saw a message from an employer explaining why she has not paid up on her articles (there are close to 20 Odesk contractors and freelance writers from the Philippines in her payroll including me, good thing I only wrote 5 articles for her this week, others did more than 10.) The reason she supplied was that her client refuses to pay for this week’s batch of articles due to some problems with some articles submitted the prior week but she plans to demand from her client to pay up since that client commissioned the articles in the first place. She was very apologetic and I believe she was telling the truth but sadly I feel it is not enough, what will happen if her client still refuses to pay, right?
Some of these contractors maybe fully dependent on their income from their freelance writing projects, what will happen to their effort and time? And considering that the original contract was between her and her contractors and not between her contractors and her clients. See what I mean? I rest my case.
Anyway so I was a bit down in the dumps for a few minutes but knowing me I tend to take disappointments in stride and carry on. 🙂
So I was again tinkering with my site and then it hit me to update my resume as I feel I belong more in the corporate world rather than full-time writing, I am still undecided on that by the way as I love writing. Anyway, so I googled my name. Pitiful hahaha. But would you know I stumbled upon something that really cheered me up and inspired me to write this post.
GETTING RECOMMENDATION FROM PREVIOUS CLIENTS
A few days ago someone contacted me asking me if I am interested to write for her websites as I was recommended by a previous employer in a Warrior Forum’s thread.
So what’s the connection between Warrior’s Forum and a positively cheered me? 🙂
Well, I stumbled into the said thread lol.. and I am sharing it here… I am not sure if I am or am not violating any WF rules by posting these snapshots of the thread but I hope I am not. If I am, anyone please give me a heads-up so I can remove them.
I am sharing this to remind me and anyone interested in freelance writing work that Odesk employers are also a case to case basis, it’s unfortunate that a certain employer disappoints me today but I’ve worked already with many Odesk employers and generally they are all great, in fact I love some of them!
And i love my Odesk writing experiences as I am learning along the way. 🙂
And yah, i’m posting this WF thread snapshots because I also want to brag a little hahhaha.
You never know but your client may become your staunchest champion who will defend your work from naysayers!
Recommendation through a Warrior Forum’s Thread 🙂
I got a recommendation from a previous client for doing a great job!
All the articles I submitted were high quality that they were approved by Ezine Articles within 24 hours of submission. Yes, Filipino freelancers CAN DELIVER HIGH QUALITY WORK!
My client said to a doubter on Warrior’s Forum that high quality work can be attained by outsourcing to a freelancer in the Philippines:
“As I said, these were very high quality articles – in near perfect English – from a writer in the Philippines”.
If you do great work, you may snag a recommendation from your client. Word of mouth good feedback can open more opportunities for you to grow your freelancing career.
This truly inspired me to deliver only my best and to keep my promise in my Odesk profile overview where i said that “I am guided by the principle that I’m only as good as my last output, so expect me to produce excellent work every time.”
Giving your best on each tasks given by your clients can bring good tidings, including getting recommended to their friends and to other internet marketers looking to hire freelance writers.
Filipino freelancers can deliver!
🙂 Happy, Fruitful Sunday everyone!

hi cille, good to know that despite that unlucky situation you had with your other client, something good came out of it. happy for you and congrats! you are a good job! LOL
If I may suggest, if your client doesn’t pay up, you can also tell her that you will use those unpaid articles you wrote and sell it to someone else. Para mawindang ang client nimo coz praning sad na sila when it comes to finding duplicate copies online. So better claim those articles back to prevent them from using and leaving you alkanse. hehehe.
