The Fuente Osmena Rotunda could very well be the heart of Cebu City. It’s that place where Jones Avenue converges with Mango Avenue, where Downtown and Uptown Cebu City meets.
The Rotunda’s significance is etched in the history of Cebu because it’s been the usual place where Cebuanos gather for rallies, it’s also a favorite drop off point for those NGO’s and civic organizations mobilizing relief goods operations for calamity stricken places. The circle is likewise home to the province’ Christmas tree every December as well as to the Shrine of Sto Nino every Sinulog season and most importantly, it’s where you can see one of the famous icon symbols of Cebu – the postcard popular Fuente Circle Fountain.
The Fountain at the Fuente Osmena Park Rotunda
The long standing buildings and establishments surrounding the Fuente Osmena Park have in themselves become landmarks of Cebu too and they in a way complete the circle of Fuente Osmena – there is the Larsian barbeque place, the big hospitals, the Shamrock building, Robinson’s Mall and the towering hotels.
And of all the hotels that you can find around the Fuente Osmena Circle – only one holds the distinction of being a true Cebu landmark since the 1990’s, one that survives the passing of time with its ideal location and outstanding reputation for good service. I’m taking of course about the Cebu Midtown Hotel.
Time has seen changes too with this dear Cebu Hotel – the hotel is now called the Summit Circle. Yep the name has changed but the legacy of excellent service that defines the hotel continues to this day. In fact I honestly think might be even better now.
I’ve visited this hotel for some university research projects before – study related to available Cebu hotel services, rates and reputation. And most of Cebu hotels were included as respondents then but only a few hotel personnel accommodated our group’s research and one of them is Midtown. Now guys don’t let me get started on the hotels that ‘shove’ us away hehehe.
Anyhow, just over a week ago, I had the opportunity to stay for 3 days and 2 nights on Summit Circle with fellow travel bloggers and this is Penfires review on this Cebu hotel.
Mountain View from the 10th floor of Summit Circle
I like the name it was changed to – Summit Circle. My guess is that it is a tribute to the circle that in part defines Cebu and the Cebuanos.
The location is exceptional, if you are here in Cebu for the first time and wants to get to the top tourist attractions of Cebu City, Fuente Osmena is at the center of it all and these places are within easy reach from Summit Circle even by public commute, in fact you can just walk to some of them.

Summit Circle staff and customer service is perhaps one of the hotel’s best features as they really welcome you with wide smiles and is very accommodating. When I arrived I have to request them to assist my brother when he shows up to bring me spunky, my camera. In the middle of my stay I have to request for extra water from our floor’s housekeeping personnel and then again just before leaving for a sewing kit. I also checked out much later than the rest of our group. What can I do – NBA Slam Dunk and Skill Contests were on heheheh and when I finally checked out it was breezy and fast at the info desk.
The Bright and Welcoming Lobby of Summit Circle
Summit Circle offers comfortable beds with hypoallergenic and chiropractic pillows so guests can enjoy a comfortable night’s sleep. Although I admit I slept real late since I was watching shows after shows on their Flat screen TV with Cable. Ahhh the good life to do nothing but watch news and entertainment shows 🙂

During travels I usually bring with me the whole personal hygiene kit – shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, lotion etc but since I know that Summit Circle would have all these available to guests, I did not bother bringing any kit items with me.
Bathroom and Shower area is spacious. I have to mention though getting the water warmed up takes a bit of time. Main feature – their rain shower! Love it! High Five!
Rain Shower Cool!
Summit Circle does not have its own Spa Center but they do have in-room massage per request specializing in Shiatsu or Swedish massage. If massage is not your thing , they have a swimming pool that you can enjoy.

On our first night we had dinner at Creative Cuisine ( C2 ) and we feasted on their delicious best sellers like Crispy Kare – Kare, Seared Tilapia, Seafood Inasal and more. The appetizers and the deserts like bibingka souffle and leche flan are equally yummy!
Food! Glorious Food at C2
I was already feeling so full sampling the different appetizers when the main course was served but nahhh who can resists their Crispy Kare – Kare, right? So I took huge chunks of this favorite dish and together with its special bagoong concoction, I’m in kare – kare heaven hehehhe.
I love C2’s Crispy Kare – Kare
