Our wedding was not always honey-colored, smooth-sailing event; there was a series of almost-blunder that eventually turns out amazing. You know like all the stars aligned just so you will have what the universe knows is the best for you.
Case in point, our balloon delivery man was late in bringing the balloons to the church. We were supposed to release the balloons when we step-off the church but no manong balloon maker was late. This turns out good riddance for the balloons shine brightest during our post-nup session under the Marcelo Fernan Bridge. I am so thankful that manong was late, and because of it we had an amazing photoshoot with our transparent and pink balloons! Post-nup would have been a tad dull without the balloons. 😉
Another point was our wedding photographer, it was not supposed to be Shutterfairy. It was supposed to be someone else who comes with a package a few thousands cheaper than Shutterfairy. Don’t get me wrong, I fell in love with Shutterfairy’s work when we were going over the portfolio of the best wedding photographers in Cebu the first go-round, but I’ve contacted someone else because well, he was cheaper by a couple of thousands, lol now that I think of it basing decision on a minute difference.
This other photographer claimed to have overbooked his schedule and withdrew from our agreement two days before we were supposed to meet for the deposit-giving. It was a devastating blow to me, knees quaked, palpitations, and anger overruled my usual sane self.
The photographer was the first wedding supplier I focused on, even before starting our documents and paperworks since.. well… photos are very important to me. I almost, almost wrote a rant posts with all the screencast of our convo with this other photographer, thankfully good sense came back. Thank God too for friends who helped me to let go, and a groom who is super supportive. Shudi ang bad vibes sa wedding hehe 🙂
So I was back looking, searching for the photographer whose work speaks to me, straight to the heart. I poured-over the various wedding photography specialists in Cebu, checked, rechecked, searched, compared portfolios. I drilled in hours upon hours facing my laptop, going through websites upon websites just so we find a perfect match, a photographer that is meant to be for our big day.
Titus must have noticed me going back and forth to Shutterfairy’s website, checking the pics, loving the wedding portfolio. Finally he urged me ‘baby lagi mo binabalikan ang website na yan, kontakin mo na, yan naman talaga gusto mo eh’.
So I did, and am so glad I did.
Good riddance too that the first photographer didn’t pan out! It was a blessing in disguise! Thank you Mai and Homer, awesome work! <3
After going over lots of photographers’ work during our research period, Titus and I were in agreement that Mai and her team’s strength is on focusing on the faces, expressions, and moments rather than staging, setting-up a scene, this was what we were looking for. This was the main reason, why we’ve sign-up with Shutterfairy Photography and we were not disappointed. So happy!
Why am I writing this post now, several months after we celebrated our wedding? Well, I am excited to see our wedding coffee table book. Mai has emailed me that she’ll contact my mom so she can hand-in our album. But we will have to wait to see it though, since we are not in Cebu and I don’t want it LBC’ed. Am paranoid to lose it, lol, haha.
Awkward Poses, lol
There is no way around it but to say simply that I suck at poses, ‘dramatic’ poses sends shiver of horror to the core hehe. Am so akward, can’t stand still for so long for a shoot. I have no clear idea about best angle for my face, manipulating light et al, . Am not gifted that way so it must have been a challenge for Mai, Shutterfairy’s main photographer to get decent shots of me. Plus me putting on my biggest weight ever was no help. I had on a tight dress that forces cleavage to appear on my back, tsk, tsk, tsk. Lol.
Dressing up and my friends trying to close the dress while all of us in the room was laughing so hard was one of the funniest memories of the wedding, hehe. And am so glad Mai was able to capture our funny struggle, it’s one of the pics that really stands-out for me despite me not looking picture perfect.
The memory this picture brings ~ priceless hehehe
There is something to be said about professional photographers like Shutterfairy for they really are able to capture amazing shots even if the subject is less than ideal and awkward to boot. Thanks for their good eye, and creative captures despite challenges.
We got our official wedding photos from one of Cebu’s bests wedding photographers’ team – Shutterfairy Photography – last February 4, almost four months processing but still within the contract so good on that. Plus, Mai gave us 50 more prints than what’s on the contract! Awesome! Happy me! Yeyyy!
What puts this into perspective: A cousin still hasn’t received their wedding pics from 11 months ago, they hired a Manila-based photographer and they are hoping they’ll have their pics before they celebrate their first wedding anniversary next month. That’s such a bummer.
The only hitch that happened with our experience with Shutterfairy was that I have 300++ pictures from the wedding preparation, while Titus only had maybe 50 or so shots for the prep. I told Titus not to complain, weddings are mainly for the bride, agree? hehehhe.
If you are looking for a great photographer to cover your Big Day, check out Shutterfairy, highly recommended. Mai and team covers Cebu Weddings as well as destination weddings. They also specializes in Engagements shots, Pre-nups, Family, Kids Birthdays, Debuts and Maternity. Am not sure if she does corporate events though.
BTW, I LOVE the Shutterfairy box storage for the prints! I have a fascination with boxes so this was another surprise from Mai that I love!
