Photobooths and Celebrations: Becoming a Filipino Staple?

I am beginning to notice that photobooths are everywhere during events, and we are not talking only of big budgeted corporate events but personal celebrations like weddings. Has this service become mainstream and expected? What do you think?

The last two weddings I’ve attended this year have these photobooths situated on a corner and attracting hordes of people. It’s always a hit among attendees. The moment the photo service is open, the line becomes long faster than you can say your ABCs. I guess it’s to be expected, throw in two words that Filipinos love – pictures and free – and you have a sure winner. It doesn’t matter if you are supposed to act goofy and don on all these colorful and funky headdresses, sunglasses and comical props to be one with the spirit of the event, still almost all wants their picture taken even the serious oldies are lining up hehe.

This is one thing I love being a Filipino, we can act goofy even in our formal regalia and no one will make a fuss about it. We are happy, smiling and cheerful while we excitedly select our photobooth props, strike silly poses for different effects and then when we finally have our free picture on our hand.

And because the photobooth backgrounds reflect the theme of the celebration, example with wedding events it usually shows prenup pics of the couple, it also becomes instant and wonderful souvenir.

But yah it’s a bit expensive on top of all other expenses for an event. If you check out sulit.com you can find many advertisement for photobooth services ranging from P3,000 and up. It’s not cheap by any means but still celebrants choose to have these picture booths knowing that a lot of people will appreciate their photobooth pictures and snapshots.

I don’t know about you but when I see photobooths during weddings and other celebrations, heck, expect to me to line up again and again.

So what do you think? Are photobooths already considered an event must have for Pinoys especially for Filipino weddings?
