You would think that visiting La Mare Café in IT Park often will result to “pagka-umay”. But surprisingly I have been there countless times and yet I still continue to love their classic warm brownie cup. Yep that’s what I find myself ordering lately LOL. Every visit to this Cebu pastry and dessert shop in IT Park elicits the same excitement knowing that I’ll soon be feasting my palate on delicious desserts.
La Marea Café is also my go to place for after dinner especially if I am with first time visitors to Cebu. This is not a secret foodie place in the city because they are really well-known in Cebu. Ask any Cebuano with a sweet tooth about a place to get mouthwatering affordable desert and you will probably be referred to this pastry cafe.
La Marea’s popularity is also well deserved and I do recommend them to your friends who may be coming to Cebu first time or not, yourself too if you haven’t been there yet.
La Marea Café Selections in Cebu IT Park
La Marea menu offers affordable desserts like cakes, brownies, muffins, silvanas, pies, cookies that will make you say ‘Wow! That’s really good!“. They also have ice cream like mochi ice cream and coffee concoctions that go well with your chosen dessert. Although the last few times I was there, I just got the warm brownie cup and skipped the coffee. Best sellers include their warm brownie cups.

More choices for your dessert at La Marea
Price wise their dessert selections are very affordable. Example from their menu the warm brownie cup that many love and swears by (present!) is only P95 per cup. If you are on a date with a tight budget, I suggest you eat in any fast food restaurant and then bring your date to La Marea to cap the night. It’ll be awesome! =) She’ll remember La Marea and she won’t think you’re a cheapskate.
The Famous Warm Brownie Cup – A Personal Favorite
How I wish someone will reveal the recipe for this warm brownie cup heheh
La Marea Strawberry Creamcheese Trifle – too sweet for me
The moment you open their glass door, you can’t mistake what La Marea is all about. La Marea is a place to get good affordable desserts through and through in Cebu. Common reactions among friends brought there is that the exquisite smell of freshly made pastries envelop your senses as you enter their store making any attempt at resistance futile. La Marea is definitely NOT A PLACE for the Diet Conscious. No sir and ma’am, No. Avoid at all cost if you want to stick to your diets.
Least favorite from La Marea?
Dessert options from warm brownies to cakes
Just last week I was there with my fellow Cebu travel bloggers, we were introducing La Marea to a first time tourist in Cebu. Actually we insisted that we go to La Marea, instead of her first choice of another coffee place that is available only in Cebu. The over-all La Marea dining experience was awesome as expected except for a minor set-back.
I did not like the leche flan from this cafe. It did not taste sweet, it was also not creamy as I was expecting so I was a bit disappointed. But let me say this, my taste buds may have been already overpowered by the creaminess of the vanilla ice cream which was slowly melting on the warm, soft, smooth brownie. As a result when I took a spoonful of the leche flan, it did not stand a fighting chance.
Your experience trying the leche flan maybe different from mine. Hope you’ll share your La Marea experience with us all. It’ll be nice to compare notes.

What to try next at La Marea?
It’s really high time I order something else for myself when I visit La Marea and not stick to the bestseller warm brownie cup.
The good thing was that every time I’m at this dessert haven; my companion(s) chooses something else so I can still request for a taste of the dessert they’ve ordered. 🙂 Sorry my funds are limited and I can’t order everything, if I am monied, I will definitely order all to try. Haha. That’s why it’s wonderful to be surrounded with friends that pay no mind to call for sharing desserts hahah.
So what do I want to try next? It’s their Silvanas. Why? I want to compare it to my favorite Silvanas from Dumaguete’s pastry shop.
If you are in Dumaguete, do not miss this place: “Sans Rival Cakes and Pastries” shop and buy boxes of this as pasalubong. How many boxes to buy?, as much as your pasalubong fund allow. There is a good chance your silvanas will not reach your home. It is that good!
Back to La Marea, yep so I want to try that next to compare. Let’s see.
La Marea Branches in Cebu
La Marea’s original place is at Crossroads in Banilad. I wonder if this business started as a hobby and first introduced to friends and family? And then there was a clamor for the owner/pastry chef to open a store?
Anyhow, I still remember the first time I was there at Crossroads, I ordered Concorde cake. That concorde cake haunted me when I was residing in Laguna with no pastry shop nearby. When I came back to Cebu, I visited my favorite pastry place and tried their warm brownie cup, and the concorde cake was almost forgotten. Lol.
Last week, I insisted for Titus to have the Concorde cake so I can have a bite of it too hahah. He loves desserts more than I do so he did not resist when I convinced him it’s really so good. And yes, it was really delightful too! Another La Marea offering that I highly recommend. I think the price for this particular cake is P110.

There is another branch, a stand-alone kiosk, in SM Cebu. Don’t expect the same ambiance or experience you will have dining in a regular La Marea Café. It’s a “to go” service for those who want to have a quick dessert fix while rummaging through sales in SM shops.
The most popular branch I think is La Marea at IT Park The Walk complex in Lahug and one I and friends frequent.
Are they open for franchise? No idea. It’s best to visit one of La Marea branches to ask for more info about franchising. Personally I would prefer them to remain available only in Cebu. Do they deliver? Not 100% sure but I would say probably ‘no’. Again, it’s best to visit the branch and ask them directly.
Hey I just noticed – I was looking at the pictures from my old La Marea visits and the set from last week. Hurray! Yey! They have brought back the white cups for their warm brownie desserts! It’s no longer the paper cups! Yey! I was disappointed months ago why they were using paper cups for the warm brownie cups and not the regular white cups on saucer.
For ‘to go’ orders of course the paper cup is expected but for dined-in guests, the white cup on saucer looks more presentable. It’s nice to know they are back to using this. =) I did not notice this last week when we were there hahahha I must have really been so busy savoring my La Marea brownies!
Ahhhh…. warm brownie cup =) Thank heavens for you!
Coming to Cebu? Try La Marea Café! 🙂
