For several days now these funny, quirky looking minions from the movie Despicable Me 2 has taken over social media sites from Facebook to Twitter to Instagram and yes blogs too! 😀
They come not from toy stores or hobby shops, rather these endearing figures are brought to us by the popular American fast food chain McDonalds via their Happy Meals.
Happy Meals are targeted for kids but with the release of the minion toys, you can see adults lining up to buy all 9 variations. Collecting these have become an obsession for many that some McDo branches are now out of stock. Really.
Why the craze? Why the madness? Why almost everybody likes them? The answer differs from one person to the other.
As for me I can’t resist them because they look too darn cute and their mischievous smiles just resonates with me.
So last night at almost 11 pm, out of the blue without really planning and just after a short Facebook chat, Doi, Titus and I met up feeling determined to hunt these minions and to make them ours. Good thing McDonalds Mactan which is near my place is open 24 hours. To our utter surprise, this McDo store still has the complete line of minions! WoW!
Doi got all 7 yellow toys on the spot, she doesn’t want to collect the stronger purple ‘evil minions’. I don’t want the troll looking violet minions either. But I only got 3 yellow ones 🙁 I have to work within my budget and yahhh I am a bit errr thrifty. Haha. But I hope I can collect all 7 before the stores run out of them or they change their Happy Meal toy line-up.

Now if you are interested in collecting all 9 minions note that the Happy Meal prices range from P85 to P115, depends on your food choice. You can choose among Spaghetti, Burger McDo, 4 piece Chicken McNuggets and Chicken with Rice meals. All Happy Meals comes with drinks already. French fries is available as an add-on to your order.
This is the best time to treat your barkada but make sure they know you get all the Happy Meal toys hehehe. Happy Collecting!

Minions has already ran out on McDo inside sa malls. I hope makapalit pa ko for my baby. He really loves it. Do you know asa pa nga branch ang naay minions available?
Hi Edj, nipalit ako sister complete set sa McDo beside Gaisano Mactan last Sunday, not sure if complete pa sila karon. Basin ang mga out the way McDonalds branches ang with stocks pa. Hope makakuha ka!

hi jess, you can’t buy the toys as is in the store, you can only get your hands on the McDonalds happy meal toys if you buy the food. It’s a package deal, the toy being a freebie if you buy the food.
