Are you going to Baguio? Check out the trip schedules of Genesis Joy Bus Deluxe and Semi Deluxe updated as of August 2017.
If you are commuting to Baguio and want it as hassle-free as possible, riding the Joy Bus from Cubao or Pasay to Baguio is highly recommended. Another option would be riding the Victory Liner First Class buses.
We just had a short Baguio vacation and we rode a Joy Bus from Cubao to Baguio, and then on the return trip we rode a Victory Liner first class bus going to Cubao.
This article will focus on the Deluxe bus service of Joy Bus. You have two options of where to go:
- Genesis Joy Bus terminal in Cubao
- Genesis Joy Bus terminal in Pasay
As a walk-in, I recommend that you go to the Cubao terminal. Why? It’s because there are more terminals in Cubao within close proximity of each other, offering Baguio bound buses compared to Pasay area. This will come in handy in case the Joy Bus is fully booked when you walk-in, you can easily transfer to the nearby terminals and ride another bus line to the highlands.
Another Cubao terminal advantage is that they offer MORE SCHEDULES of trips for Baguio. Check the updated departure times to see what I mean.
One of the main advantages of the Joy Bus from the Genesis transport company is that this is a non-stop trip from Cubao to Baguio and vice versa, which uses the expressways – NLEX to SCTEX to TPLEX – so travel time is remarkably shorten to 5 hours.
Remember that this is a direct trip and no stops along the way, so there is no opportunity to buy a meal once the bus rolls on. I advise you to bring sandwiches, burgers, or chips, etc for your snacks while on the bus.
Special Amenities on Board Joy Bus
Special amenities and service includes the presence of a bus stewardess during the trip. Passengers are provided one small bottled water and one Rebisco biscuit. A blanket is also provided since it is cold inside the bus. Plus, the bus comes equipped with a comfort room for passengers’ convenience.
What I like most about this premium bus service is that the seats’ legroom is definitely bigger compared to regular buses plus the seats are really comfortable. If you are travelling solo, try to request for the solo seats.
I’m not sure how much is the capacity of the Joy Bus but I would guess not more than 40 passengers at a time. By the way, passengers are assigned a seat upon ticket purchase at the terminal.
If you bought your bus ticket online, you need to print your voucher, and then go to the Cubao terminal office to have it replaced with a ticket. That’s also the time when you will be assigned a seat.
We have tried the Joy Bus going to Baguio and going to Baler, the higher ticket rate versus regular buses is really worth it.
How much is the Genesis Joy Bus ticket rate Baguio to Cubao and Cubao to Baguio? It’s 720 pesos per person as of 2017. This transport company offers discount to senior citizens and PWDs provided that valid IDs are presented during ticket purchase. Students are not given discounts.
*Standard Aircon bus rates to Baguio and vice versa is only P445 from Cubao and P456 from Pasay terminal, multiple stops along the route, no special amenities.
Can you reserve Joy Bus tickets? You can book and pay for your ticket way ahead of your trip schedule by visiting the terminal in Cubao or by doing online booking. Reservation per se without payment at the same time is not allowed.
Where to online book tickets for Joy Bus? Purchase your Joy Bus Baguio or Baler tickets online on this website www.phbus.com/joy-bus/. *A booking fee of at least P25 is charged on top of the cost of ticket.
Joy Bus online booking must be done at least 4 days ahead, the system will not accept booking that is less than 4 days.
*When you book online, you have to wait for email confirmation if there are still available seats for your chosen trip schedules before you can proceed in paying for the ticket.
Walk-in during Peak Season
When we asked the customer service representative in the Cubao terminal about buying Joy Bus tickets during peak season, she advised that during holidays and long weekends to make sure to buy ticket at least one week in advance or even earlier. As an example, she said that tickets for the upcoming Ninoy Aquino long weekend holiday are fast selling and she surmised that most likely all tickets will be gone one week before the long weekend (Monday, August 21 is a holiday).
