Your Song

I don’t usually follow American Idol but this season I am glued to the tv every thursday and friday nights here in the Philippines, I am actually looking forward to new episodes lol.

Normally too, I don’t listen to much music and I am not as musically inclined when compared to my siblings who always knew about the latest hits and when given a line of lyrics can usually guess the title of the song be it old or current hits. I have never bought myself cassette tapes when they were in vogue during my teenage years (nakks I’m not saying I’m old! hahah), i don’t have an mp3, and the cds that i have ever purchased for my own use was two christmas albums cds – i love christmas what can I say?! 🙂

So anyway here i am and its close to midnight, still listening to a youtube video of  Casey’s rendition of Elton John’s “Your Song”. I must have hit the repeat button tens of times tonight hahhaha. I am not a fan of Casey, I never was and I still am not but somehow the way he sang this song tonight tugs at my heart straight on. And it reminded me how wonderful a beautiful song can be if sung the way it was meant to be. It brings out tender feelings and hope. And hope is always a good thing.

I like old songs – mellow ones and slow rock – maybe that’s the reason why I was moved by the American Idol theme tonight – Sir Elton John’s classic.
