SINULOG 2013 Photo Contest Winners and Pictures

The festivities of Sinulog 2013 has officially ended with the announcement of winners for the last events which includes the Sinulog Short Film Festival Screening and Awards Night as well as the unveiling of the winning images of the Sinulog 2013 Photo Contest.

Aside from the Fluvial Parade, Solemn Procession, Sinulog Street Dancing, lots of Cebuanos and visitors are also looking forward to know the winners of the 2013 photo contest.  The photographers who registered for this contest must be excited too!

The best images highlight some of the wonderful moments of the just concluded festival in honor of the Sto Nino. I wasn’t here during the 2013 Sinulog Weekend but by attending the video documentary showing, Sinulog Short Film Festival and seeing the photo exhibit today, it somehow makes me experience Sinulog. I am hopeful too that by taking pics of the exhibit and sharing them on Penfires, Cebuanos living abroad and in other places in the Philippines as well as non-Cebuanos who are interested in seeing the winning pictures can do so.

Please pardon the pictures I took of the images below since they are not sharp, most are blurry and have lots of noise in the background. I would really urge you, if you are here in Cebu to drop by SM City Cebu at the 4th floor area near Max’s Restaurant to see the display of the Sinulog 2013 Photo Contest winning images. The names of the photographers who captured the winning shots are also listed below their respective entries.

This annual contest is organized by the Sinulog Foundation. Thanks to them for having this public viewing! So sorry I don’t know what the prizes are for the winners, but probably there are cash prizes plus of course the recognition that they capture the best Sinulog photos.

Based on the winning photos, I think Mikhail Arrogante is really the big winner. He has the most winning entries to the Sinulog 2013 Photo Contest. His name is the only one I recognized too from the list of winners of the Sinulog 2012 Photocontest. I was looking for the other names from last year’s list of winners but didn’t see them. Which is good news for aspiring Sinulog photo contest participants, in 2014 your name might be among the list of winners! So never lose hope, be inspired, work more on capturing those wonderful photos during the Sinulog Celebration!

Some personal thoughts and observations:

I like the set of winning images more last year compared to the winners for 2013 photo contest of the Sinulog.  If you can check out  my last year’s post on this, you will notice too that there are similar styles of photo composition with some of the winning entries this year.  I am not sure if this is just pure coincidence or the photographers took inspirations from the 2012 winners. Anyhow, these are the things I noticed for this year.

Please visit the photo display exhibit in SM, it is Free and will run beginning today February 3 until February 10. This might be extended though since original schedule of exhibit was January 26 but was moved to today Feb 3. I will update this post if the exhibit is extended.

Too bad the picture I took of this image looks so bad. The original print is really beautiful.
