Our seniors need helps in signing-up for the eGov app, particularly to access the Philippines eTravel form.
Last October 20, I assisted my mom’s friend and the husband in creating an account for PH eTravel and Thailand TDAC, they are 70 and 69 years old respectively. Was it easy? For me, yes. But it poses a big challenge if it’s a senior who is doing the sign-up process from start to end.
My mom’s friend got their Philippine Airline tickets round trip Cebu to Bangkok, as well as travel insurance for seniors from our travel agency, Travel Bug Travel and Tours. You can find us on Facebook if you need travel help, we will be glad to assist you.
I agreed to meet-up with them 5 days prior to their departure for Thailand, to help them out as they are not techy. They are meeting their abroad-based children in Bangkok for the 70th birthday celebration of the mom. Yeyyy!
Officially, the government advisory is to sign-up within 72 hours from departure. But I have successfully helped clients signed up to PH eTravel 4, 5 days before the flight abroad.
Good Internet is A Must!
One important thing I’ve learned is that you go sign-up in a place where the internet is decent. What was supposed to be less than 30 minutes meet-up, turned into almost 2 hours because of super bad, intermittent internet. If the connection get lost, you will redo the process, such a hassle.
Since they were a couple traveling together, we decided that the wife will sign-up for the PH eTravel and then just “add as family member” the husband. The hubby need not sign-up himself because he will be under the records of the wife.
To start the registration, go to Play Store or the App Store, whichever is applicable and download the eGov app.
Connect an ACTIVE email and sim number to the account.
*I suggest that you have a printed copy of the eTicket, so it is easy to refer to, to get the flight number, airlines’ name, departure and arrival dates, and other data. You will also need your passport, a picture of it will be taken and uploaded.
If you can’t upload the photo because it says too big, take another picture of the passport from a bit far and then just crop-it, then retry to upload. That should work.
You will also need the passenger info like complete name, birthday, home address with zip code.
For the currency declaration, you can choose to click the “Nothing to declare”, unless you are bringing big sums of money, i.e. over USD 10,000.
As you fill-up the online form, read, read again before clicking ‘next’. Slowly but surely, so there’ll be no hiccups.
Once the form is filled up, you can screenshot the QR code once it is displayed. Or check your email because a copy of the travel declaration is sent there. Print it so you can just hand-in to the Immigration Officer once at the airport.
To save time, and if you have companions who are family members, you may add them to your declaration, so they don’t have to sign-up themselves. You will also need their details and passports.
Travel in the future
I really wish that puhon, in the future, our own family get to travel again. Travel enriches the soul but yah, it needs budget. Just keep on hoping and working towards achieving family travel goals and to pray for better health for everyone.
BTW, I also assisted my mom’s friend and hubby signed up for TDAC, kamuntikan na mamali. I googled for the Thailand TDAC, clicked the first search result, and sign-up and then at the end, it ask us to pay. The Thailand declaration is free, so I have to google again and finally found the official government link where no payment is required to register to the TDAC.
