SHOEDOWN: Carcar vs Liliw Espadrilles and Sandals

I have become familiar with both Carcar, Cebu and Liliw, Laguna’s footwear industry. And if I compare the produce of these two towns, when it comes to any abaca laced sandals or wedges, I have to give it to Liliw made.

When it comes to espadrille I think they are at par with each other in design and quality wise. Liliw ladies espadrilles’ price range is from P230 to P350 comparable to that of  Carcar made espadrilles.

I am a proud Cebuana but I just have to lament the fact that Carcar produces so many cheap sandals that easily disintegrated, these are the ones you see all over the sidestreets of colon, opon or wherever that sells for less than a hundred pesos. But it’s very affordable so there.

When it comes to wedges Carcar is more expensive like this design (the same design we found on Liliw stores and in in the Carcar expo), its P160 pesos cheaper in Liliw.

Liliw made footwears are very popular among the people of MetroManila and Luzon provinces, but it has not penetrated the Vismin market yet. Carcar made footwears are popular in Vismin but has little visibility in Luzon areas.

No matter your choice – be it Carcar made or Liliw made sandals, slippers & espadrilles, the important thing is for us to support Philippine made footwears!

i am a cebuana. But when i went to Liliw, Laguna few years back. It was so terrific! I bought two flip flop and sandals, and it has a good quality! I even wore those when we had a hiking..but when I am here in cebu, I often buy the sandals from carcar. It’s also good.. But I think, sandals from liliw is the best. =) cebu<3
