It was a great day for Cebuano foodies and budding chefs when Pass the Plate: A Cooking Demo with YUMMY and Knorr was held in Ayala Center Cebu last November 24.
This was also YUMMY magazine’s first trip to Cebu City! Hurray for bringing this wonderful cooking event to Cebu!
Yummy and Knorr’s Pass the Plate: A Cooking Demo in Cebu
I’m a big fan of food shows and cooking shows on tv and to be on an actual cooking demo was exciting. What made it more awesome was that I attended this cooking event with my mom, so it was double the fun and learning experience for both of us. 🙂
At the start of the cooking demo, devoted YUMMY readers and shoppers alike got to watch and learn easy, yummy recipes and practical cooking tips that are ideal for cooking at home for the family. With the holiday nearing, this was heaven-sent for attendees like us because we learned how to dish up new and exciting meals. More importantly, the recipes were easy to follow and the ingredients affordable.
Moringga Squash Cream Soup
*This I think is the easiest to cook, I love cream soups!
Binalot na Tilapia sa Pechay (Sinanglay)
*Words of cooking wisdom from Chef Dianne, a handy way to know if the fish is cook and ready is by inserting the tip of your knife into the fish. If the knife’s tip comes out hot and feels hot, then the fish is cook and you can take it out.
Cream Dory Fillet with Sofrito
* A good and cheaper alternative to Cream Dory is Tilapia.
Mexican Tortilla Soup
*This dish looks sophisticated and hard to do but it is not! Just follow YUMMY magazine’s recipe for this mexican tortilla soup.
Barbeque Chicken and Veggie Quesadilla
*Cooking advice from Chef Katherine is to remember that you can stuff your quesadilla with any ingredients that you love, don’t be afraid to experiment. Another tip, you don’t have to have an oven to make one of these veggie quesadillas, you can use your nonstick pan as Chef Katherine did.
**I will update this post if I can find an online copy or link of the five recipes.
I seriously think I can follow the recipes and whip up delightful dishes. You know how a tall order that is for me. I’m always on the hot trail of delicious dishes, I love good food and I hunt good food wherever I am and whenever I travel but unfortunately, I can’t cook. But for the first time, I really think I can by following the five delectable recipes that Knorr’s resident chef Chef Dianne dela Cruz and YUMMY’s contributing chef and food stylist Chef Katherine Jao, cooked for us. The dishes were that easy to do! The taste sampling of every dish only managed to make me crave for more. I bet the rest of the audience who were there last November 24 shared my sentiment. But tsk, there was no second helping hehe
Taste Sampling – We want more!!!
This event was free to register and everyone in Ayala Center Cebu that time was enjoined to come and participate in the cooking demo. There was also a contest wherein after each dish was done, questions were asked to the audience and the first one to raise her/his hand and got the answer wins a gift pack. Sweet! Lucky participants also had the opportunity to win the special raffle gift pack courtesy of Knorr and YUMMY magazine afterwards. Plus, everyone who attended the event got a copy of YUMMY magazine which makes everything sweeter. 😀
I hope come 2013, Yummy and Knorr will come back to Cebu and teach more easy to do recipes that the whole family can enjoy. If they do, Be There, it will be a fun learning experience!
Lady Chefs Chef Katherine and Chef Dianne, Thank You!
By the way, if you have a sweet tooth, love to experiment and make delicious desserts, it’s not too late to grab YUMMY magazine November 2012 issue. They feature the 50 best new finds and favorites desserts including no bake desserts and an easy step by step guide to make macarons and other sweet selections. As for me, I can’t wait for their December issue, that one will be a Christmas holiday special featuring YUMMY magazine’s pick for Noche Buena. That’s something to watch out for!
Happy learning new exciting recipes 🙂
