The 2016 Holidays have been declared by Malacanang Office of the President. We now have a LIST of Regular and Special Holidays (working and non-working) to guide us by for next year’s trip and vacation planning. How many long weekends will there be for 2016? Malacanang declared the 2016 holidays by virtue of Proclamation No 1105, series of 2015. There will be a separate proclamation for the official holiday date for 2016 Eid’l Fitr and Eidul Adha . ** Eid’l Fitr and Eidul Adha 2016 date will be announced later. As of today June 29, 2016 – NO OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT YET for these Muslim holidays. Please check back again in the next few days, we are monitoring the announcement by the Philippines Official Gazette regarding Eid’l Fit’r and Eidul Adha holidays. Update will be posted once there is an OFFICIAL announcement.
Update July 3, 2016: The Ei’d al-Fitr holiday will be this July 6 (Wednesday). The official declaration is expected this Monday or Tuesday, but Presidential Communication Office Secretary Marin Andanar has mentioned July 6 as the holiday date in an interview via Radyo ng Bayan.

UPDATE September 6, 2016 = Possible Eid’l Adha declaration for September 12, 2016. BUT THIS IS NOT YET OFFICIALLY PROCLAIMED. Once Ei’d il Adha is declared by Malacanang officially, I will update this note.

LIST of LONG WEEKENDS 2016
So far we are all looking at 6 long weekends for 2016, this number might go up depending on whether or not the official holiday declaration for 2016 Eid’l Fitr and Eidul Adha will fall on a Friday or Monday.
January 1, 2, 3 – This is Friday to Sunday, long weekend due to New Year’s Day holiday.
February 8, 9, 10 – This is 3 days long weekend Friday to Sunday due to Chinese New Year celebration.
March 24, 25, 26, 27 – 4 Days long weekend for the observation of the Holy Week from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday 2016.
August 27, 28, 29 – This is a 3 days long weekend Saturday to Monday due to the National Heroes Day 2016 celebration.
October 29, 30, 31 to November 1 – This is a 4 days long weekend Saturday to Tuesday for All Saint’s Day
December 30, 31 to January 1, 2017 – A 3 days long weekend from Friday to Sunday for the celebration of Rizal Day all the way to New Year’s Day holiday 2017.

LOCAL LEVEL HOLIDAYS
Aside from the national declared holidays there are also local level holidays which are special non-working days for the concered cities/provinces. Usually these are to celebrate Charter Days, Founding Days, major festivals, etc. Get in touch with your local information office to confirm the additional holiday(s) for your place.

August 6, 2016 – Special non-working holiday for Cebu province for its Charter Day Anniversary.
