Our last and final day of our Ilocos adventure, we bid farewell to Ilocos Norte. We left Aquaseda in Maira-ira Blue Lagoon, Pagudpud and made a stop-over in the ABOT CAVE, the cave is a few meters before reaching the main highway. This is a rock formation with a hole and local folklore says the cave was created by giants.
We further drove north to reach the PATAPAT VIADUCT, around 13 km from Maira-ira. This is the longest viaduct in the country, and is attached to a mountain wall. You will have left Ilocandia when you reach its other end for it welcomes you to Appari, the northernmost tip of the Luzon island. We wanted to check Appari but we were time constrained.
From the viaduct we turned around and headed back to Vigan. We made our last stop-over in Batac, took our lunch and visited the MARCOS MUSEUM. Note: the museum closes for lunch break. This is where you can find the preserved remains of the former president, lots of memorabilia and pictures from the past.
It took us 5 hours to get back to Vigan from Pagudpud, luckily we made the 1pm Partas bus trip and arrived in Manila by 10pm. We still have to travel all the way to Laguna, i was tired and sleepy so i made sure either kenneth or nicko stays awake and talks to me while i drove us safely home hehhe.
This was our itinerary on our Ilocos roadtrip adventure. No matter what itinerary you’ll follow I’m sure that you will enjoy it! You will have lots of beautiful pictures too from Ilocos Sur to Ilocos Norte!
addendum: Our next adventure as a group came two years after to one of the Philippine’s top tourist destination – Bohol!
