There is no direct flight to Siquijor unless you will take a chartered flight which is expensive hehehe. To get to this island, you really have to cross seas.
If you are from Cebu and want to go direct to Larena, you can ride the Oslob – Larena boat of Super Shuttle Ferry.
We did not take this because the schedule of this boat is not swak sa departure sched namin. Here is the sched of this direct bus to Siquijor in case you are interested.

When we decided to go to Siquijor we also knew that airplane ride to Dumaguete is not an option as we won’t be able to afford it considering that we were four in our group. Land trip it is then via Cebu South Bus Terminal to Liloan in the southern tip of Cebu Island. From Liloan, we will have to cross the Tanon Strait via fast ferry or pumpboat to Sibulan in Negros Oriental, then another jeep ride from Sibulan Port to Dumaguete town proper.
I am a bit familiar with land trip and bus rides from Cebu to Negros Oriental. My relatives on my mom’s side often visit our kins in Valencia, a charming town about 9 kilometers from Dumaguete. Land trip is our preferred way of reaching Negros. An added benefit is its more affordable to budget travelers like us.

Affordable Travel Options to Get to Dumaguete from Cebu:
1. Via Big Boats Cebu to Dumaguete – Overnight Trip
There are big marine vessels which have trips Cebu to Dumaguete and vice versa like George and Peter Lines and Cokaliong Shipping. Usually these big boats will leave Cebu by late night and arrives in Dumaguete Port early dawn the following day.
Our family have stop riding these big boats a long time ago so I am not updated with their rates and trip scheds. :/
2. Land Trip to Liloan, Pumpboat to Sibulan, Jeep to Dumaguete – Commute all the way
This was the route we followed in going to Dumaguete. But we made a short stopover in Oslob Church complex at the insistence of my sister who wants to have a pictorial in the famous and historical Oslob Cuartel ruins. It’s easy to give in because we were all in vacation modes hehe.
So anyhow, we rode a taxi to South Bus. Fare from our place in Mactan ( we are near the first bridge ) to South Bus was P160.
Ceres aircon bus rate from South Bus Terminal to Oslob Church was P150 per person, it’s P176 if you head straight to Liloan from SBT.
After picture-taking, we left the church and baywalk area and walked back to Oslob town proper. We then rode a jeepney to Liloan, fare was P30 per person, the ride was I think close to 30 minutes. The jeepney will not reach Liloan port itself; you will have to get off the jeep at the highway. Just tell the driver or the bus conductor you are going to the wharf and to drop you off in the nearest corner.
There are tricycles waiting to pick passengers and bring them to the wharf at the highway. You can also walk to the Miparanum Private Wharf or the Maayo Shipping Wharf but it’s a long walk and a bit humid, so we opted to ride a tricyle at P10 per person.
Pumpboat Liloan Santander Cebu to Sibulan Negros Oriental
It was perfect timing when we got there because we only waited for 5 minutes and the pumpboat was ready for boarding. Yay! Lucky us! Crossing the Tanon Strait via the motorized outrigger was about 45 minutes and ticket fee was 37 pesos. There is a terminal fee of P2 that you also have to pay.
First trip of these pumpboats from Liloan to Sibulan is 4:30 AM, and then hourly thereafter until its last trip by 6 PM in the afternoon.
You can also check the neighboring Maayo Shipping Wharf if you’d rather take Maayo barge to Sibulan Port.

Alternative option: Maayo Shipping has another port in Bato Santander. You can take the bus all the way to “Bato” if you’d rather arrive in Tampi Negros. Jeep ride from Tampi to Dumaguete is close to an hour, whereas if it’s from Sibulan to Dumaguete its only about 30 minutes. Maayo Shipping last trip from Bato is 11:30 PM.
From Sibulan we rode a jeep to Dumaguete City, fare was P11 per person and the jeep trip took about 30 minutes.
Total travel expenses for this leg of our vacation Cebu-Oslob-Dumaguete per person is P272.00.
Taxi to SBT: P40
Bus to Oslob: P144
Oslob to Liloan: P30
Liloan Highway to Port: P10
Pumpboat Liloan to Sibulan: P37
Jeep Sibulan to Dumaguete: P11
Then we arrived in Dumaguete!
Next challenge was finding a place to stay hehehe. After calling hotels and inns in Dumaguete, we decided to check-in at Grand Pensionne Plaza. We availed of their Single Room at P900 good for 2. Extra person without matress is additional P100, and extra person with matress was P150. So the total cost of our Dumaguete hotel room was P1150, still affordable considering we were four.

Dumaguete Port to Siquijor Port
After we deposited our things at the hotel, we took a tricycle to Dumaguete port to buy our Delta Fast Craft tickets ahead of time. Minimum fare on tricycles is P9 per pax.
Delta Ferries ticket cost Dumaguete to Siquijor trip is P120 per person plus an additional P15 port terminal fee which you will pay upon boarding. So total cost of travel Dgte to Siquijor was P135 per person.
A Docked Delta Fast Craft
Please note that early morning waves during the Amihan season as you cross Dumaguete to Siquijor are a bit rough. No wonder someone in our group said / pleaded “ayoko na ng island travel”. Kawawa naman hehehe. Anyhow, travel time was about 50 minutes. Kudos to Delta they really follow their boat schedule and leave port on time!
Delta Boat Tickets
*Curious thing though, on our return trip from Siquijor our Delta tickets were stamped with these line “Promo Fare P100”,
but we have to pay the regular fare of P120.
On our return trip to Dumaguete, we took the last trip of Delta Shipping from Siquijor at 3 PM, waves were big but not rough. The one who was apprehensive of the fast craft ride survived on the way back without emptying the stomach and said that puede pa sya sa Camiguin and Bantayan islands crossing haha.

3. Ceres Roro Bus from South Bus – Direct Ride Cebu to Dumaguete
This would have been the best option for us to get to Dumaguete conveniently but our plan stopover in Oslob prevented us. We decided to stop in Oslob only at the bus terminal hehe. Our travel plans were really fluid. Lol.
On the way home to Cebu we got stranded in Negros due to Bagyong Ofel.
We took the Ceres RORO bus Dumaguete to Cebu. It’s an airconditioned bus so it was a comfortable long ride.
Go to the Ceres Terminal in Dumaguete if you also want to take this bus. Total fare was P200 per pax plus an additional Maayo Shipping Barge fee of P70 per person.
Ceres Dumaguete to Cebu Roro Bus P200 fare broken down as follow:
Dumaguete City to Tampi Port – P23
Barge Ride via Maayo Shipping to Bato Santander Cebu – P70
*To be collected once the barge left Tampi Port.
Bato Santander to Cebu South Bus Terminal – P177

If you have queasy stomachs or suffer from motion sickness, it’s best to take the barge as they are bigger compared to fast craft and pumpboats.
Maayo Shipping Barge readying to leave Tampi, Negros Oriental
When the roro bus was safely parked inside the barge, all of us bus passengers were asked to vacate the bus and to take seats in second level of the barge. A Maayo Shipping crew took the fare as the barge sailed away from Tampi. Travel time was fast, probably around 30 minutes.
Titus Happy Riding the Barge =)
Siblings on Vacation
All of us lined again to board the Ceres roro bus. Finally, we’re back on Cebu soil!
But I was dead tired, I slept through the whole ride from the southern tip of Cebu all the way to South Bus Terminal. Titus has to wake me up when we were nearing SBT. Lol. Hehe.
Last ride was to take a taxi from SBT to Mactan. After experiencing being stranded in Dumaguete, we arrived home safely, Yey!
Hope there will be more travels and vacations for our group of travelers, adventurers, and field trippers!
I’m sooo looking forward to the next trip!

hi! how many hours did you travel from siquijor to cebu via your route?
Cille Anne says
Our trip had stops in between but if you will travel direct from Siquijor to Cebu via land – boat transfers, estimated time would be:
Leg 1: Siquijor to Dumaguete Port – fast craft = 1 hour
Leg 2: Dumaguete Port to Sibulan Port – jeepney = 30 minutes
Leg 3: Sibulan Port to Liloan, Santander – pumpboat – 45 minutes
Leg 4: Santander to Cebu City = approximately 3 to 4 hours (adjust for City traffic)
*You have to factor in the waiting time in between the trip legs.

Hello Cille Ann, we’ll be going to dumaguete-siquijor-dumaguete-cebu on June 23-26. We’re planninng to leave dumaguete on June 25, and we need to reach Cebu early morning of June 26. Could you please advise which is the best way we should take? Via Ceres Roro bus, last trip (10:30PM) or should we take sibulan-liloan route? Thank you so much!
Cille Anne says
Hi Len, I would suggest taking the Ceres Roro bus from Dumaguete to Cebu, this way assured na may bus kayo when you reach Cebu Island. The problem with taking the Sibulan-Liloan route late afternoon/night is that buses may be rare at Liloan area at those times. Although there is a vhire/fx terminal as you exit Liloan wharf but I don’t know when last trip ng vhires dun. To avoid inconvenience, take the roro bus. BUT try to contact Ceres Liner first about their roro bus trip schedules for June 26 para you can reserve if they allow reservations.
