Today was an afternoon playing with toys. Really. Lol.
You know what they say about all work and no play makes Jack, or in my case, Jill a dull gall? Nope, am not having it!
So after working 15 hours-work-days for several days now, and treacherously on the precipice of dullness, I turned off my laptop (actually just closed the lid so it’s easy to get back to work hehe).
Time to play!
A scene from the Toy Adventure Story – something I made up hahah
A week ago, Titus and I were in Greenhills. Our target is toys hunting. This was our first visit to Shopesville toy stores, and mannnn were we surprised! Greenhills Shopesville is a treasure trove of toys and collectibles of all sorts – hoards and hoards of them up for sale! We didn’t know until that visit that a place like it exist in Manila!
If you are a toy collector, it’s a MUST SEE PLACE for you and am not kidding not one bit!
Greenhills Shopesville reminds me of a Hong Kong mall dedicated for toys and toy collectors called Ins Point which is near the Yau Ma Tei station, but on a smaller scale though. Despite Shopesville being a mini-version of Ins Point Hong Kong, it is big enough to make collectors hearts do somersaults, Titus’ included. His toy budget obliterated in a flash. 😀
Titus originally planned to buy a Voltes 5 40th Anniversary edition in Greenhills Shopesville but ended up empty-handed, umurong sa average price of P12,500 haha. He said he’ll try to wait it out, hoping that the 40th anniversary version of Voltes 5 robot will have a price drop in the next months.
Asa lang ba? Hehehe
Funko Pop Unboxing
Finally, I’ve unboxed my Funko Pops. First to be opened was my Holiday Dancing Groot funko pop from Big Boys Toy Store in Greenhills; they were retailing this for 750 pesos.
Look! Dancing Groot in his Christmas decorated pot looks so cute and charming. Don’t you just love him? Hehe 😀
Next to open were the Hogwartz wizards Albus Dumbledore, Harry Poter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasly. Retail price was 550 each but we got them at slightly lower price because of the bulk discount extended to us by the owner of Toy Kramer Warden, this is on top of the plus 1 funko pop we got for buying more than 15 pops. Yeyyy!
There are big version Funko Pop, price a bit higher. Rubeus Hagrid is a big pop; Harry is the regular size. Hagrid was from Big Boy Store in Glorietta, price at P795. He belongs to a friend nagpahabol pabili the following day after I posted my Groot #funkopop on Facebook hehhe.
If I got funds, I’d most likely try to complete the characters from Harry Potter. I still lack Hagrid, Snape, and Voldemort.
BATMAN FUNKO POP COLLECTION
Titus is building up his Batman funko pop collection, it was our first time to buy pops, that’s the reason why we got so many on one go. He lacks the early Batman models, and is looking for these. If you happen to know a seller of early released Batman funko pop, please drop me a comment so we can contact seller. Thanks!
The Batman Funko Pop Entertainment Earth Exclusive line sells for P695 in Toy Kramer Warden and P850 in Big Boys Store. It’s cheaper at Toy Kramer Warden so we bought from their store instead of opting to buy these collectibles from the official distributor of Funko Pop in the Philippines, which is Big Boys Toy Store.
Definitely eye candies! Super Heroes line Batman in blue, pink, violet, yellow, orange, and green!
The most expensive Funko Pop we got was Batman PX Previews Exclusive at P1,295, followed by the Batman The Dark Knight Trilogy at P795. Other items are price at P550.
If you are collecting #funkopop too, you may want to get early dibs on Batman vs Superman pops, they are selling like crazy now that the Batman vs Superman Movie is about to hit theaters!
Batman PX Previews Exlusive is the one with violet sticker on the blister box
Titus is a Batman collector, so he was super excited to also land a Batman Jada metal diecast figures like these one from Toy Express in Greenbelt 5.
Batman versus Superman Jada Toys M1 and M9
The Jada Batmobile is hard to find, but it’s okay since my husband doesn’t have the budget for it yet hehe.
Collect your favorite movie or tv series characters in their Funko Pop versions! Game of Thrones, Disney Princesses, Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Sherlock Holms, The Walking Dead, Sesame Streets, Snoopy, Star Wars, tons of choices for the collectors!!!
COLLECTING FUNKO POPS
Building a Funko pop collection is not as expensive as other hobbies, say gunning for Transformers robots or going for a Hot Wheels Elite collection. But it is expensive if you compare this with say collecting Hot Wheels regular cars which retails at P129 right now. Unless your aim is to collect only Funko Pop limited editions and comic con exclusive pops, now those are really expensive!
Ever thought why some people collect stuff? You may want to read my two cents on the psychology of collecting.
The great thing about collecting toys is you can be creative and do dioramas and set-ups to feature your collection!
I just did this. 😀 Check out the Penfires A Tale of Adventure by Dancing Groot I’ve come up with ahehehe.
Have an inspired week ahead guys! 😀
