When is it a good time to avail of Philippine Airlines amazing deal over say, a Cebu Pacific piso fare promo? Is one better than the other’s offer?
I fly minimum of 5 times a year. This is mostly domestic flights, I wish they’re for international haha. Whenever airlines announce their latest seat sale, trust that I will be checking out the details as soon as I hear of it. Especially if it is a piso fare sale. During P1 base fare sale announcement, I’d be glued to my laptop waiting for the start of booking period. 12 midnight? I don’t mind waiting and queuing basta maka book ng murang ticket haha.
Ganito usually ang eksena sa mga di kayang mag PAL and premium airlines every trip hehe.
But I’ve got to say that there are instances when booking a Philippine Airlines promo ticket is the best option. You may be paying a bit more versus, for example, a peso fare ticket at the onset, but when you add up all other charges you may find out that the PAL promo fare you availed ends up saving you a few more pesos versus other seat sale offers.
Philippine Airlines Amazing Deal
What I love best about the PALmazing deals of the flag carrier is the free check-in baggage allowance that comes with every ticket. Yep, even if you purchase promo tickets of Philippine Airlines under the Budget Economy category, or the Premium Economy, you know that you are getting allowance to check-in your bags. This is true for their domestic and international flights.
Just how much baggage allowance PAL gives aside from the 7 kilos of free hand carry? Depends on the ticket, these are the free check-in baggage updated as of 2017.
- Budget Economy – Free 10 kilos check-in baggage
- Regular Economy – Free 20 kilos check-in baggage
- Premium Economy – Free 30 kilos check-in baggage
- Premium Business Class – Free 35 kilos check-in baggage
*The round-trip international ticket we purchased during an Amazing Weekend Deal of Philippine Airlines gave each of us 30 kgs of check-in baggage allowance going to Hong Kong and on the return flight back to Manila. They were Premium Economy tickets that were heavily discounted because of the PAL promo we availed of.
Plus, for international flights PAL have in-flight entertainment! I was watching a Korean movie during the flight, lol. PAL also serves snacks for domestic and meal for international flight for free. In comparison, passengers pay for prepaid baggage and meals when flying budget carriers like Cebu Pacific, Air Asia, Jet Star, etc.
Philippine Airlines Promos Availability
PAL rarely holds seat sale, unlike Cebu Pacific and Air Asia which launches promo fares almost weekly. But on some weekends, Philippine Airlines introduces PALmazing Deal. This is one promo you should watch out for if you want to fly with Philippine Airlines with limited budget.
COMPARISON: Philippine Airlines Promo Fare versus Regular Rate
Last February I flew Manila to Hong Kong round trip via PAL promo, together with my husband and sister. So, that’s 3 passengers availing a round trip promo. How much did we pay? $402.30, the USD to PHP rate around that time was about $1: Php 48.
402.30 USD = Php 19,310.40 divided by 3 pax, divided by 2 routes (MNL to HKD | HK to MNL) = Php 3,218.40 per passenger per way.
See this screenshot of our actual PAL ticket, 3 passengers:
To present a comparison, I searched a few minutes ago how much the Manila to Hong Kong to Manila round trip ticket in PAL if book today na walang promo, meaning regular ticket prices for Premium Economy. I’ve chosen Premium Economy since that is what we got during the seat sale, para ang price comparison is 1:1.
Ouch, PAL Premium Economy regular fare for one passenger RT MNL – HK – MNL is $403.40! Mas mahal pa sa ticket na binayaran namin last promo na good for three pax!
That’s why it pays to wait for promo tickets if you are like us who can’t afford to pay full price but still wants to try out Philippine Airlines www.philippineairlines.com. 😉
Sa round trip Philippine Airlines promo fare 2017 costing less than seven thousand pesos each, nakarating na kami ng Hong Kong at nakauwi din ng matiwasay! We also got 30 kilos free check-in bag each way, which we made good use of especially on the return flight to Manila. Nakatipid din sa food and drinks because of the free inflight meal. Hurray!
By the way, Penfires strongly recommends that you avail of a Travel Insurance especially if you are flying international. No matter what airlines you will book with, securing a travel insurance for travel abroad is always advisable. It’s for protection, it’s for peace of mind.
When is the next PAL promo? You can check out the latest deals and promo fares of Philippine Airlines for the remaining months of the year and next year 2018. Again, remember one sale to watch out for next year – the Philippine Airlines 77th Anniversary Promo.
Travelers! Let’s all wait for that! 😉
