Flying especially to international destinations is exciting especially if you are travelling for vacations but cross-country flight usually takes at least 3 hours, some long haul flights will take more than a day. Imagine sitting there on the plane with limited activities and confined in a small space, boredom and restlessness will soon rear its head, fatigue will set in too because these flights are usually scheduled to leave midnight or early morning robbing you off of a good night’s sleep, and then what usually follows next is hunger pangs.
The good thing if you are flying with Air Asia Zest is the availability of in-flight HOT meals. Meals are good but “hot” meals are awesome while up there in the sky. Add up good tasting, delicious meals to the equation then you have a winner right there.
On our flight from Kuala Lumpur back to Cebu, I got a chance to sample one of Air Asia Zest’s hot meals options. There were only 2 options that time but more will be available soon on-board their flights. I had Korean Beef Stew while some my companions had Chicken Rice.
Other choices listed on the Air Asia Zest Café menu are Chicken Adobo, Pasta Arrabiata and Nasi Lemak. There is also a good selection of desserts.
My meal on-board the KL-Ceb flight! Thanks Air Asia!
For hot meals you can order during the booking process or you can order later via their Manage Booking tab on their website. Just remember that hot meals must be ordered at least 24 hours before your flight, this is to make sure that you will really get a hot, fulfilling meal the day you fly.
When the flight attendants were preparing our pre-ordered meals the plane cabin smells so good. I’m sure the other passengers were regretting not ordering hot meals when they can.
Choose your Hot Meal!
I was seated beside Dylan and Angie and I was already halfway through my meal but they haven’t started yet. What can I do, the good smell wafted through the closed confined cabin space, making my stomach growl more so I have to eat right away hehe. That actually explains the hurried photos hahah.
The beef was tender and flavorful, the rice was enough for me. But for guys who are big on rice you may want to order 2 meals. A meal cost P200 (about $5) which comes with your choice of a viand, a cup of rice and water. If you prefer soft drinks you can order it separately.
Mine was good and so was the chicken rice, in fact, this here is a pic of what’s left of Angie’s chicken rice meal. Actually this shot was taken moments before she took the last bite and clean the pack completely hehe. Was it good? From this shot, need you doubt it? Heheh.
The before pic 🙂
After hehehe
Desserts are also available; I highly recommend their chocolate cookies which come in a cutesy box. The cookie was densely stuffed with chocolate chips, definitely my kind of dessert!
When you fly next, don’t be one of the passengers whose hunger pangs will only get worst smelling good food being gobbled down by your fellow passengers. Choose to have hot meals during your flight. A full stomach makes for a wonderful start to your vacation.
