I’ve had my Asus ZenFone Selfie phone with deluxe cover Illusion Smooth Pink for four days now and so far, I’m a very satisfied Selfie user. And as of last count, photos taken by this camera phone runs 177, and this is after deleting tens of unflattering pics, hehe.
I’ve saved for a new phone at the start of 2015 in my piggy bank, and a day before my birthday I got myself a brand new ASUS ZenFone Selfie with deluxe back cover – a Birthday and Christmas gift rolled in one. 🙂
Unboxing ASUS ZenFone Selfie Deluxe Cover
My original wish list was not the Asus Selfie, rather it was the Laser. The price of Asus Laser 5.5 is cheaper at P7,995 versus the Selfie at P11,995 in malls as well as ASUS retail partners. A difference of P4,000 which is big. So I have been really thinking about my options over and over again, comparing specs versus price versus worthiness.
When it comes to big buys – I am very nitpicky about the specs. You work hard for your money, so what you part it for must be 100% worth it. I love digesting, discussing the phone features and technical specs with my husband. I also devoured phone reviews, and facebook comments of current users so I have a more encompassing idea of the performance and efficiency of the phone I was planning to buy.
So what was the thing that turn over the tide in favor of the ZenFone Selfie? The newly released ASUS Selfie Deluxe Back Cover which gives you these three color options Illusion Smooth Pink, Illusion Diamond White, and Illusion Polygon Blue. 😉 (note – the blue one appears more dark violet to me than blue.)
The Selfie Deluxe features better grip courtesy of the arches and edges of its back cover design, plus it looks way cool than the plain one, at the same price! <3
…well, aside from the ASUS ZenFone Selfie product specs which include 5.5 inches screen, 32G storage memory, 3GB RAM, Corning Gorilla Glass 4 display, 13 Megapixels front and back camera, Full HD resolution screen, 64-bit Octa-core Qualcomm processor, 3000mah battery capacity, dual flash and ultra-fast auto focus for the camera, etc.
Let me share the Asus Selfie phone camera highlights lifted from the company’s website, as this just speaks to my inner geekiness. 🙂
“ASUS Selfie rear and front cameras are engineered with five-prism Largan lenses and top-quality Toshiba sensors, and include dual-LED Real Tone flash technology for perfect illumination in any lighting conditions. You’ll also enjoy macro photography that works on subjects as close to 6cm, plus laser auto-focusing that’s as quick as 0.2 seconds.”
😉
There are also various shooting mode like Beautification, HDR, Low Light, Auto, Manual, etc. And if you love selfie shots, this phone is a wonder. Taking a selfie is a breeze, even if your phone is turn off. Just write an ‘S’ on the screen, and voila, you are all set to pose and shot a selfie. 😉
**The Selfie’s deluxe back cover features similar back cover as the 128 GB Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe edition. But the Selfie specs remains the same, only the cover is ‘deluxe’ for this unit.
Sample Pictures below are taken by my new ASUS ZenFone Selfie; no editing was done, except for photo re-sizing so there’ll be no issue in uploading to this website’s server.
Food shot made fast and easy
I haven’t fully explored my new phone yet, but I’ve already downloaded my productivity apps. I really appreciate its super fast respond when you click an icon and browse. I’m giving up my Samsung Tab 3 and Asus ZenFone 4 phone, since I can do all that I do for our online ventures via my new Selfie phone from Asus. And because the camera on this phone takes quality shots, I won’t be lugging anymore a heavy slr for short trips. Hurray!
Using the 13 Megapixels front camera for this selfie shot. It’s easy to shot a wider angle selfie.
*If you are into blogging – travel, food, fashion, lifestyle blogging in particular, the Asus Selfie is a good camera phone to have. Works best too for Instagrammers, and practically anyone who just wishes to have a good quality phone which takes high resolution pictures.

Where To Buy Asus Selfie Phone Deluxe Back Cover?
I got mine from an Asus kiosk in SM Mall of Asia Cyberzone center, their main store is called ‘Power’. Titus and I checked 6 or more stores in MOA before we finally chanced upon a store that sells the ASUS Selfie with the deluxe back cover. Most stores currently carry only the regular plain cover with color options bluish green, light pink, white, red, and metallic gray.
If you want to buy ASUS ZenFone Selfie, you can try visiting SM MOA stores – last Thursday they were available in Media Exchange and Power.
The ZenFone Selfie Deluxe Back Cover version sells like hot cake says the gadget store staff. While we were in the kiosk, someone was buying the Illusion Polygon Blue (which again looks more dark violet), followed by me who got the Illusion Smooth Pink. That particular kiosk had a really good night selling ASUS Zenphones; 4 different Zenphone mobile phones were sold while we were there, and more customers were waiting to be attended to. Good for the business. 😉
ASUS ZenFone Selfie current price (SRP) is P11,995. What’s inside the box – phone, headset, charger, and product warranty cards.

Hi Lyza, awesome and great choice! 🙂 We were told to just charge it when battery hit 15%, then unplugged once device is full. To screenshot using your Asus Zenfone Selfie, press simultaneously the power button and volume down button. 🙂
What I love about this unit is we can “write” letter “C” on an off-screen, this triggers the main camera to turn on and you can take picture right away. Or write “S” and the selfie camera turns on. 😀
