Two of my most recommended ‘must try’ Cebu foods are the Baby Back Ribs from Casa Verde and the Warm Brownie Cup from La Marea. This is of course aside from Cebu Lechon, Larsian Barbeque, Sutukil restos, Ngohiong restaurant. You are in luck if you are coming here for we have many options from the best Cebu restaurants to more places to eat in Cebu that are super sulit. Make sure you make time for a Cebu Food Trip while visiting our city!
The best branches to visit and taste Casa Verde’s Brian’s Back Ribs and La Marea’s Warm Brownie Cup are still in their original branches. Casa Verde’s old Spanish theme restaurant is near Fuente. If you see the big McDonald shop on the corner near Crown Regency, take that narrow road and in the middle of that short stretch, you’ll see a sign for Casa Verde. It’s just a few minutes walk from the Fuente Rotonda. While the main and original branch of La Marea is located in CrossRoads Banilad, a few meters away as you go down the Banilad – I.T. Park flyover.
If you’d rather visit the more accessible branch, visit Casa Verde in Ayala’s Terraces and La Marea in Asiatown IT Park or SM Cebu.
Casa Verde’s Most Popular Dish – Baby Back Ribs!
This is a favorite among many for not only is this food delicious and fulfilling but it is also affordable. One slab of Casa Verde’s Brian’s Baby Back Ribs can be shared and at only P208 per serving. Sorry the picture does not do this dish justice.
Casa Verde’s Famous Ribs
Aside from the baby back ribs which you can pair with either rice or mash potato and sidings of steamed veggies, I also love Casa Verde’s desert selections especially their Death by Chocolate ice cream. Just look at that a-we-some goodness!
Death by Chocolate Dessert Love at Casa Verde
Please note though that Casa Verde in Ramos St and their Ayala Center The Terraces restaurant is a hit among locals and tourists. They have long queues of guests waiting for vacant tables especially during weekends and holidays. Patience might be needed. You can call ahead for reservation if you like but make sure that you arrived on time as they are really almost always jam-packed and would happily give your table to waiting guests if you are late.
Other Casa Verde Menu options includes mostly western style foods like burgers, buffalo wings, fish and chips, steaks, pasta and more.
La Marea’s Favorite Warm Brownie Cup
I love the Warm Brownie Cup from La Marea ever since I’ve tasted this dessert early 2000′s. Yep, La Marea is one of the most love dessert places of Cebu and they have also become popular with tourist and holiday merry makers in our city. The moment you enter this Cebu IT Park restaurant or cafe, your senses will perk up with the wonderful aroma of delicious pastries, brownies and coffee all combined for that heavenly smell.
Warm Brownie Cup from La Marea
A warm brownie cup only sells for P95 a cup; this is a real good deal and super sulit! They also have brownie versions White Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Triple Chocolate. I love the classic one.
Their brownie with ice cream on top ala mode is really different – it’s very chocolatey, rich, moist and yummy! You got to try this one especially if you have sweet tooth.
*La Marea has a kiosk in SM Cebu but there is no ambiance to speak of and no dining area. The brownie cups are all to go.

Casa Verde and La Marea Café are proudly Cebu brands; they are local restaurants and currently can only be found here in Cebu City. I don’t know if they will open branches or franchises in Manila or other places. I hope not so they continue to be uniquely Cebu but then again, it depends on their respective owners. But if they will open, I’ll update this post with a list of their branches.
I hope you’ll be able to drop by these two Cebu restaurants on your vacation or trips here and I invite you to leave a comment or your feedback about these food and Cebu resto recommendations below =)
Please share this post especially if you know someone who is coming here in the future
