Craving  for some honest to goodness delectable Southeast Asian dishes like Phad Thai, Hainese Chicken Rice, Laksa, Tom Yam Chicken and those other savory and nakakatakam spice-laden dishes of our neighboring countries? You are in luck! We are in luck to be precise hehehe. Our latest food trip brought us to Chef Cyril and Mary Ann’s Oriental Spice Gourmet Restaurant in Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

Bantayan Island Tourist Traps and Tips to Avoid

Bantayan Island Cebu

As with any place frequented by tourist and visitors, there are bound to be tourist traps and not so good practices. Bantayan is no exception. I’m just hoping that local government and stakeholders will change ways a bit to make the island even more ‘tourist friendly’ than it already is.

Bantayan Island Cebu Travel Guide and Tips

beach cottage nipa hut

Heads-up! Bantayan is not Boracay. This famous vacation destination in Cebu is laidback. There are no loud all-nighter parties, no lines of restaurants meters off the shoreline, no regular sighting of celebrities. You will even find it difficult to find beach resorts that offers a wide array of aqua-adventure facilities like jetskiing, parasailing, kit-surfing, bananaboat ride. They are almost non-existent in the island. But you can always amuse yourself like these foreign visitors playing badminton in the waters.

Haggle When You Buy Cebu Guitar in Mactan Island

bought from guitar master in mactan

Everyone at our house can play the guitar except mom. It’s not such a surprise if you consider that we live in the island where guitar shops and factories are located.  These Mactan guitars, commonly called “Cebu guitars” are famous all over the Philippines for its craftsmanship.  Some handmade acoustic guitars and other string instruments like ukelele and cocolele are even exported to many countries across the globe for decades now.

I had a customized Mactan guitar at aged 14. I can play the guitar not exceptionally though but it’s passable. The first songs I played to where slow rock pieces, particularly songs by the bands Scorpion, Chicago and such oldies. Dad taught me how to play the guitar that explains the song selection. Hehe.

Your best bet for a Cebu pasalubong center when you are traveling up north of the island is the central bus terminal in the City of Bogo. This is where you can get local delicacy as your pasalubong. If you are thinking of what to bring back home, I suggest getting the kakanin called Pintos and Budbod Kabog.

Have you heard about this two Cebuano delicacy?

If you haven’t and curious about this kakanin, well for starters; these two are popular pasalubong food items from Cebu North particularly Bogo City, Catmon, Tuburan, Tabuelan and nearby towns. If you go to Cebu South, we have a different set of popular kakanins and if your vacation requires you to stay in the city, we offer another set of famous Cebu pasalubong items for you to bring home. Cebu offers diversity even in our top pasalubong selections. *wide grin*
